We went to clinic on weekend to check his phlegm and doc find out that his throat was red. the doc prescribe antibiotic (augmentin) but i did not gave it to him yet because he s active, no fever, and eats/drink normally. Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child has symptoms of chronic cough in an infant which could be due to streptococcal infection leading to strep throat. It could be due to upper respiratory tract infections. I would suggest you to take combination of antibiotics ( as doctor also prescribed you) , anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic drugs.Nasal decongestants along with cough syrup will relieve symptoms. You should give child steam inhalation. Visit pediatrician once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get it examined. Start treatment once proper diagnosis is confirmed. Doctor may also prescribe antacids for acid reflux ,which may also cause dry cough.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
