Hi,

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases.
This condition is treated with antibiotics, usually azithromycin (Zithromax) or doxycycline.

In these cases, it is recommended that also your partner(s) should be treated to prevent reinfection and further spread of the disease. With treatment, the infection should clear up in about a week or two.

It is important to finish all of your antibiotics even if you feel better. After taking antibiotics, people should be re-tested after three months to be sure the infection is cured.

In your specific case, it is possible that the Doxycycline has not been effective because you have worse symptoms that before starting the antibiotic. Maybe in your case chlamydia is resistant to doxycycline.

My advice is to consult one more time your treating doctor because it is necessary to start another antibiotic(maybe Azithromycin a single dosis) to control this infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
