How Can Bowel Incontinence Be Treated?

I am taking approximately 16 medications which apparently have 23 adverse side effects. I am experiencing bowel seepage. Stool is consistent to thin peanut butter. No solid stools at all. I am also experiencing my penis either shrinking or drawing back inside me. Last evening when taking a shower it was approximately 3/4 long. A great deal of the time I have difficulty pulling it out far enough to urinate without running down the front of my trousers. This is no joke. At times while on the toilet I urinate down my scrotum. I experience extreme fatigue and have not been able to fully open my eyes in close to two years. My leg muscles are so weak I have great difficulty climbing the stairs in my home. My vision is also failing at a fast rate. I am prescribed Aspirin EC, Flomax, Imdur, Metoprolol, Ramipril, Warfarin, Colcrys, Hydroxychloriquine, Prednisone 30 mg, B-12, CoQ10, Folic Acid, Leflunomide, Imuran and Finisteride. I have active Sarcoidosis of the lungs, have had three heart attacks, three open heart surgeries, two minor strokes 26 heart Caths, and have 11 stents. I am extremely short of breath and gasp for air all the time. The muscle weakness has been going on for about 3 months and I fear it is mainly caused by drug interactions.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Leakage of stool can be suggestive of fecal incontinence.Fecal incontinence causes stool and other fecal matter to leak from your rectal canal. It can range from occasional leakage while passing gas to a complete loss of bowel control. So initially I would suggest you go for a digital rectal examination by a surgeon. Most commonly at your age nerve damage is an important cause of fecal incontinence. For the time being Anti-diarrheal drugs such as loperamide (Imodium) and diphenoxylate and atropine sulfate (Lomotil) along with bulk-forming agents like Metamucil can be taken to provide symptomatic relief however they may cause constipation which can further worsen the problem of hemorrhoid. So initially would suggest you visit a general surgeon and get your rectal canal investigated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
