Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Two parts of the body that can be affected by Marfan syndrome are the heart (mitral valve, aorta) and lungs. If either is not functioning properly, the person can have exercise intolerance along with shortness of breath (house and yard work). and feel weak.

People with Marfan's ought to have a cardiac ultrasound on a yearly basis and pulmonary function tests.

You did not provide your age, but I recommend that you contact the nearest hospital to see if there is a doctor on staff who specializes in Marfan's or other connective tissue disorders. If not, you can contact a heart doctor and lung specialist (pediatric or adult depending on your age.)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arnold Zedd,
Pediatrician
