How Can Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Be Treated?

What is good for BPH? I ve been taking finasteride for years, with no effect. I also take doxazosin, but I still get up six times a night to urinate. I had a laser treatment about four years ago, but the effects wore off. Do you know anything good or bad about prostate arterial embolism?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
medications like fiansteride and doxazosin only reduce the symptoms associated with bph but donot reduce the size of the prostate.
hence after a certain time you would be required to undergo surgery for bph ie TURP(trans urethral resection of prostate)
as you have asked for prostatic artery embolisation, it can be taken up in place of TURP, the advantage you will have is less invasive, has shorter hospital stay and early recovery.
effective ness is slightly less than TURP.

either of them can be choosen as they do not carry any significant risk.

hope i have answered your query. have a nice day
