How Can Anxiety And Panic Attacks Be Treated?

I have been suffering with anxiety & panic attacks for a month now and my doctor suggested I go see a psychiatrist, so I went today & she wants me to take Zoloft 25mg but 1/2 for the first 2 weeks then a full pill and Lorazepan. I don t like taking medications because I am so nervous about side effects because I tend to have reactions to quite a few medications. But I haven t been sleeping & I m so tired and my family is begging me to take something but I m getting more anxiety thinking about taking it. I don t know what to do

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ideally you should have started taking the medications prescribed by your treating doctor, however if you are getting more tensed & nervous it may not work. Get relaxed first. You can take Lorazepam prescribed by your treating doctor. It will help you feel better. You will be able to sleep & relax, your anxiety will get better. Take it & see how it works, Take the other medications after you feel better & confident. Stay away from addictions & any type of stress. Do brisk walking daily, exercise, eat healthy, listen to music & drink plenty of water, stay hydrated & happy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
