General Surgeon 's  Response
If you have an umbilical hernia and it is causing you discomfort, the best treatment is surgical repair which is usually done with a polypropylene mesh. Surgery is usually done under general anesthesia, and once the sutures are removed on the 7th day, you can slowly get back to work and normal activity.
