General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The ovarian cysts with clear fluid without septa are small in size and do not produce any symptoms. They are usually treated palliative and observed for increase in size or symptoms. Most of them resolve over time. But those with symptoms or with other complications are to be removed surgically.

In your case it is with prolonged periods. Your doctor is trying to reduce the symptoms with Ovral G as you have bleeding on 14th day. In such cases, fair trial is given with oral pills with increased dosage or changed brands (with altered concentration of hormones). You may escape surgery if the bleeding is controlled, if not you would be advised laparoscopic/abdominal removal of cyst (depending on size of the cyst).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
