my husband is not sure whether he stubbed his big toe or not. nail is gray, skin, is slightly red and throbs slightly. two days now, just had him soak in Epsom salts. infection? he is 69 and retired.no sugar issues. no animals in house, no spider bites

Hi, It's probably an infection because of the symptoms. You need antibiotics. The cause of the infection is to be determined. It's probable that your husband had a wound and the infection came when soaking with the salts.
