Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7yr. Old grandson fell on the school bus and hurt his knee. He now gets these white pus filled blusters. If it s not popped it gets bigger. I sterilized a needle and poked a hole in it to drain and it keeps filling up again. He s complaining of pain in knee now. What should i do?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Wound on the knee what your grandson has sustained needs to be managed in the following way. 1. Clean the wound twice daily with antiseptic solution using Povidine-Iodine. 2. After drying, apply cream containing Fusidic acid over it as a thin layer. 3. Give him a course of oral antibiotic containing Amoxacillin and Clavulenic acid. 4. Also, give him anti-inflammatory medication containing Ibuprofen. Leave the wound open and take care not to infect the wound by keeping it clean and dry. Gradually, the wound should heal and he should be back to normal. Hope this helps. Best wishes. Regards, De.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
