How Can Addiction To Chewing Tobacco Be Managed?

Hi,I know a person who is always chewing gutka countless.he is unwilling to quit this habit. Previously he was also addicted to alcohol with the addiction of gutka from many years.then we send him to a rehabilitation centre forcefully.he was there for 1 month taking treatment. After medication they(centre) gave tablets which made him reluctant towards alcohol. Then he quit alcohol because of tablets which causes nausea if he smells alcohol. But he started to chew gutka in just few days after treatment.counselling won t work for him. Is there any tablets to stop chewing gutka?because only tablets can makes him to quit which can give forcefully.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Gutka contains tobacco just like cigarette and bidis and can lead to many hazardous diseases including cancer of the oral cavity. He can start taking nicotex which is a chewing gum containing nicotine in a small amount and helps to quit gutka.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
