How can acne on the buttocks be treated?

I’m 68 years old, female. For several months I have started to have acne on my rear end. I am currently using an acne wash in hopes of getting rid of breakouts. Can this be linked to type 2 diabetes since I am borderline or is this a result of some other deficiencies?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is possible that it is related to the diabetics.

You should use a wash with Benzoyl Peroxide, this is is one of the more effective over the counter treatments of acne. It kills the bacteria and opens the hair follicles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
