How Can Acid Reflux Be Treated?

I was told by my ENT I had acid reflux. Some medication was prescribed but I stopped taking them as I did not like side effects. After, another Dr,. was recommended. I take an xray and a procedure was to be performed at the Hospital but was not done. My symptoms are annoying swallowing. Gurgling and a sometime cough. No pain in the abdomen. No heartburn and my stomach is regular. I looked up diverticulum which was told I have but again I do not have these symptoms. Yet another appointment with another Dr. Help

General Surgeon 's  Response

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Your symptoms are nonspecific, but these may be suggestive of gastritis, GERD or hiatal hernia so you should do gastroscopy to evaluate it more accurately. This is caused by irritation of stomach mucosa by certain food or medications, stress and smoking. SO firstly it should be treated with home remedies and changing dietary habits.
You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food. Also, certain antiacid medications may be required such as PAntoprasole or Ranitidine. In cases of severe pain, diagnosis should be established with endoscopic tests which include gastroscopy or barium swallow test.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
