How Can Abdominal Bloating And Constipation Be Treated?

i am on morphine, have been for 12 yrs., general pain meds since 1978, so i have issues with occassional constipation. I have adjusted my system well over the years with diet. The last few months I have been having bloating problems when i eat even small meals, which lead to vomitting and nausea. I m 61 yrs old male, the reason for the pain meds are 7 back surgeries. at times when the constipation rises seems to be when all the other symptoms occur. It s like I can t process things out below and can t tolerate adding new food in. Overall, I m in good health, exercise, but chronic pain has been a major problem, since multiple surguries following serious injury 1978 Thank You for any guidance

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Certain degree of bloating is normal but in case of excessive bloating it may be sign of food allergy, hiatal hernia ,IBS or inflammatory bowel diseases.
So you should do gastroenterologic work up but first try to change your dietary habits, it means: eat smaller meals but more frequently, avoid fried and spicy food, take menta tea, avoid alcohol and coffee, eat probiotics and milk products, boiled food and vegetables.
Also, there are medications such as Flobian,Magnesium oxide or certain Laxatives which may relieve such symptoms of this continue. If there wont be improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
