How Can A Torn Hamstring Be Treated?

Hi, I have a hamstring tear as diagnosed by my FP doctor. It has been a week and a half and I can t sit on my right bun because it makes the pain throb. I am thinking this is a grade two tear, as I didn t have any bruising. I can walk with some restriction to movement, it just hurts to sit and pull a shoe off that leg. Do you think PT would help? Curious if I ll need surgery. Thanks, Gena

Hello,

Physiotherapy may help but to determine if surgery is needed, you would need to see an orthopedic surgeon for assessment.

In most cases, surgery is not needed but this would have to be determined by physical assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
