How Can A Torn ACL Be Treated?

Hey, 11 months ago I tore my ACL and meniscus playing soccer and had surgery 10 months ago. When we went in for surgery the doctor fixed my meniscus and left my ACL because it was still partially attached. Well last week I was playing soccer with my ACL sports brace on and my knee buckled. It swelled up and hurt really bad but I have been able to put weight on it and some of the swelling has gone down some but I am still in a lot of pain but am able to walk. Is it possible to have torn the acl the rest of the way?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you have injured your anterior cruciate ligament, you may require surgery to regain full function of your knee. This will depend on several factors, such as the severity of your injury and your activity level.
Now you need to get investigated for the injury status by undertaking x-ray, CT scan and MRI scan of the knee region. Kindly consult Orthopedician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
