How Can A Rotator Cuff Injury Be Treated?

I have a rotator cuff injury where three of the four tendons are torn and one detached. I am having surgery on 3/7/18 and during my pre-op appt with my primary doctor my lab tests show my white blood count elevated to 14 so there is an infection. Immediately after the appointment I threw up 4 times and made a slow decent to a low grade flu for three days. My primary doctor put me on Sulfamethoxazole-TMP which I began taking today. I thought the infection was in my lower abdomen but now both sides of my neck closer to my collar bone are swollen. Advise?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Infection can be anywhere. We just can't say it's in the abdomen or your collarbone. Since you say your swelling may be after injury infection might have spread to the surrounding tissue.

But good thing you have done is that you have started antibiotics which are known to be quite powerful to subside any infection. So, you need to wait for the drug to act so that it reduces all your symptoms. If any symptom is getting worse, kindly visit your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
