How Can A Rectovaginal Fistula Be Treated?

My wife has had an undiscovered rectovaginal fistula since 2013,She had emergency diverticulitis blockage surgery On nov 5 2017. we have a ilistomy take down scheduled 2 26 18.when they did a barrium test and found the fistula and want to postpone the takedown for another month to see the fistula will spontaneously close.l don t think it will close and want the surgeon to continue as scheduled I think the fistula can be repaired later.She has had an empty bowel for 3 months. Your thoughts please

It should be repaired surgically, because it can be a secondary infection and thing can worsen so you should consult surgeon and treat accordingly.
