Hello Renee. I am Dr Mittal.

Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your query, it seems you have tried almost everything. Now surgery would really be a good option. I should tell you that the results of surgery would be better if you treat early. The longer you take, the more the surgery becomes ineffective. Of course, I am not recommending surgery as I have no idea about the extent of nerve involvement without seeing the scans- but your doctors seem to have suggested it, and so I am informing you about the prognosis.

Since you are not interested in surgery, and seem to have tried all other modes of medications, I can only suggest a nerve block. Here, they give you a medicine near one of the ganglion that reduces the pain for some time which is variable from person to person. Having said that, do realize, this is a temporary measure. Your pinched nerve remains as it is and may progress to get worse as per its course.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best wishes, Dr Mittal
