I have had a pilonidal cyst for over a week now and the pain was unbearable I tried lancing it myself but it didn t work. So I iced it frequently and took hot baths. Today I got out of the bath and noticed a smell. It burts on its own and most fluid is out, I don t know if i need yo see a doctor or not, (I dont have insurance). What should I do i want to make sure it s clean and everythimg is okay without having to spend my rent money on hospital bills
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Clinical evaluation of 'Pilonidal cyst' what you are having needs to be done. If a superficial infection is noted, then you need to be treated with a course of appropriate antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications. If the infection has penetrated deeply, then surgical intervention needs to be done by surgical exploration and removal of the cyst. Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for appropriate evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS.,MD.
