How Can A Perforated Ear Drum With Infection Be Treated?

Hii sir i m suffering from perforated ear drum from a very long time beacuse of that i feel severe pain in my ear and head.I consulted a doctor in Varanasi.He said to have X-ray of ear and after watching the x-ray he said nothing to worry and prescribed some medics.But medic was too hard.After having those medics i felt weakness and unable to sleep at night.I consulted the doctor again and he said its normal.Sir,its about 5 months but i m feeling the same.Sir,please help me as i m worried that if the infection will not stop and increase it will effect my inner ear structures.Plz sir help me

Hi,

Simply having a perforation of ear drum does not cause so much pain in ear and headache. The most probable causes have to be found out and treated. I would advise you to consult another ENT surgeon senior and experience in ear problems after consulting the family and friends.
* Insist on complete ENT examination
* CT scan the ears, sinuses and nose, this gives a better understanding
* Stop old medicines that are causing you problems
* Audiometry
* Relevant tests of blood like CBC, sugar for diabetes and any other as indicated.

All these will give a proper diagnosis and cause of your symptoms. Once a cause is found a proper medical management and surgery if indicated should help you the best.
