How Can A Painful Lump On The Lower Back Be Treated?

I hit (more like a hard graze) my lower back on the corner of a dresser really hard! Expected a bruise but no bruise! Although, there is a somewhat painful knot! 2 days later still no discoloration only the small scratch from where the dresser hit, lump still there and still slightly painful only to the touch or wrong move! Should I be worried?????

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain and swelling would be expected since you stated that you were struck quite hard. The knot is swelling of the affected area.

The symptoms can sometimes continue up to 2 weeks depending on the extent of the injury. Rest, warm compress and medication such as naproxen or Ibuprofen would help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
