How Can A Painful Lump At The Base Of The Neck Be Treated?
My husband is a 46 year old white male with multiple back enjuries. For the last several months he has had a fleshy knot swell up at the base of his neck that he states causes pain and nausea. He also has had 4 surgeries on his low back, one included bone grafts and metal in 2008. We know there is now a problem with that process but after the metal was put in he can no longer complete an mri. Murphys law. I only gave the history since he has back problems. My primary question is about the fleshy painful knot at the base of his neck. Any ideas so I can get his doctor to run some test?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lump at the base of the neck most commonly indicative of infection. The symptoms can also occur due to other reasons like submandibular gland swelling . I would suggest you to consult a general physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and FNAC/BIOPSY of the nodes can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly. In case of infection antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine and warm compresses over the nodes can help in resolution. For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
