How Can A Hematoma On The Left Calf Be Treated?

My husband has a significant hematoma on the inside of his left calf. The bruising has moved over the past 10 days and now is in his toes. For the past 5 days his foot was quite swollen and painful but the swelling has begun to subside. Just this morning a red rash appeared on the inside of the calf. He is on amioderone and xarelto for a fib. Previous bruising of his shoulder last April and buttocks last October resolved themselves in time. I am concerned because of the rash and the size of the hematoma. YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Most hematomas subside by it own by simple LR conservative measesures. It is nothing but a collection of blood inside the muscles. Apply ice packs and hot compresses. If symptoms persist get an MRI done. Wishing you good health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
