How Can A Fractured Fibular Bone Be Treated?

Hi I recently broke my fibular. The ER doc said no surgeries needed, n he wrapped with two ace bandages and sent me off to orthopedist, whom I didn t get to see until almost 2 weeks after. He asked if I wanted surgery, but my daughter s wedding was following week. He put hard cast. Two weeks after removed cast, other orthopedist said it was a bad fracture, and bones had shifted. I am diabetic. The area was dark, but he said it was caused by trauma from cast. He put new cast on, and I return next week for xrays, removal n check, etc. Since yesterday, my last two toes are numb; what do I do? Thank you.

Hello

Thank you for trusting HCM

Dear treatment may depends on area of fracture is it open fracture or compound fracture or closed fracture or comminuted fracture etc..

if it is closed simple fracture may need closed reduction and casting. If it is open comminuted fracture may need surgery.

Due to cast may cause nerve compression may lead to tingling if your lower limb toes. Please consult your surgeon ( that you may need to remove the cast) he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
