How Can A Fever Of 102.5 F Be Treated For A Baby?

My 2 year old has a fever of 102.5 taken via a forehead thermometer. I gave him children's Tylenol 2 hours ago and his fever has not broke. I have placed cold rags on his forehead and neck as well. What do I do???? Do I need to take him to the hospital??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremgic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Since his fever does not shown response to paracetamol(Tylenol),it is better to seek medical care.
I suggest you to consult a pediatrician and get the following things done:-
(1)-Do basic blood and urine investigation to look for a possible infection.
(2)-Acetaminophen or ibuprofen can be tried to decrease body temperature.
(3)-Do tepid sponging with tap water,it will help to decrease body temperature.
(4)-A temperature chart is needed to assess the progress.
(5)-A short course of antibiotics like amoxicillin can be tried empirically in unresponsive cases.
(6)-You can use saline nasal drops for blocked nostrils.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
