How Can A Dog Bite Be Treated?

Hi, I was playing with my dog last weekend and his tooth broke the skin on my arm. It has turned red around about a 3 inch circle and a little pus was at the site where the skin broke. He loves to grab onto my arm with his mouth, but this time it broke the skin. I have used proxide to clean it out, and put neosporin on it, but wasn t sure if I should do anything else.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Can I come to know whether your dog is vaccinated or not? If not then you have to take anti Rabies vaccine on day 0, 3, 7.

Along with that you have to take injection TT (Tetanus), if you have not taken in last 3 years. Wash that wound with soap.

I will advise to take tablet Amox clav, tablet Nicip. I will suggest you to review here with detailed history or consult with the physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
