Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was bitten this morning, by a cat I rescued, on my index finger. (I had this cat earlier checked over by a vet a week ago, neutered and got its Rabies shot.) It s now VERY painful and swollen. I took an antibiotic this evening I had in my home that was prescribed but I never took. It is called: Clarithromycin, 500mg. I am allergic to PCN. My question: will this antibiotic be effective in treating my cat bite infection in my finger?

Antibiotics will be useful in your case as it looks to be inflamed. Add on to it it's advisable to go for anti rabies vaccine schedule as soon as possible.
