How Can A Bruise On The Forehead Be Treated?

I fell last Thursday night and hit my head on the garage cement floor. Started out with a big lump that went down after e few hours. Now I have bruising on my forehead and my whole lid in black and blue. I have iced it and I read to put warm on. Not much pain at all just tenderness. No other symptoms

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

My suggestion is let your body handle the bruise by itself.

In these cases, when the tissues are damaged because of blunt crushing force, the small blood vessels get damaged and the blood flows outside them; afterwards, the excess blood is absorbed and the edema will retract.

Until blood vessels are restored, the skin will have a blue-like color and this requires some times (more than one week) to resolve to normal.

The suggestion to keep the lid warm is good, as it helps the absorption of excess liquid. In order to mask the bruise, you could apply some kind of cream.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ervin Toçi
