General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Dementia risks include brain injury, improper circulation to the brain, sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical and mental activity, improper diet/lifestyle.
I suggest:
-quit Smoking if you do.
-exercise to lose weight (if overweight), else, just to maintain proper circulation.
-puzzles, math, learning a new language, art (painting, drawing, crafts etc) can all stimulate brain.
-yoga, meditation, swimming, dancing, music are stress busters.
-avoid refined grains, processed foods, carbonated & sugary beverages and limit caffeine to a cup a day.
Spend more time outdoors with pets or friends.

These measures will aid to delay Dementia or keep it at bay totally.
Genetic factors also contribute to risk of developing Dementia. So if anyone in your family had it, your risk is higher. Unfortunately nothing can be done to alleviate this risk.
As this along with lifestyle causes are seen in Dementia, pls do consider my above suggestions to help minimize the risk.

Hope this helps. Wish you good health
