How Can A UTI Be Prevented?
Hi...Is Klebseilla becoming a problem in most long term care facilities, especially for UTIs? How long can it live on inanimate surfaces? If a patient is found to have a resistant strain, should they be placed on extra infection control precautions? Thank you!

Klebsiella is usually transmitted through catheter procedure and causes UTI. If a patient is infected with klebsiella that is resistant then antibiotics should be given based on sensitivity testing.Care should be taken to prevent infection to surrounding patients and hospital staff.
