How Can UTI Be Treated?

I have urinary problems and macular degeneration. I started taking Systane I Caps eye vitamins and every time I try one - afterwards (4-6 hours) I feel like I have a UTI. I just read that zinc could trigger that. Is this possible. Do all Areds 2 pills have zinc ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Please note that zinc is beneficial in the majority of infections as the gut or respiratory or urinary tract infection. You have read wrong. And zinc is good for macular degeneration. Next time you feel like having urinary tract infection, you should go for total leucocyte count (TLC), differential leukocyte count (DLC), and a C-reactive protein (CRP) besides urine culture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
