How Can Lyme Disease Be Treated?

Hello, my name is Scot. My son, Peter has had severe dizziness and vertigo for over 2-1/2 years now. He has extreme hearing sensitivity(hyperacusis) and pressure in one ear and recently started to get the same symptoms in his other ear! He is 25 years old and in March of 2018 he will be 26 and no longer under my health insurance coverage. It is so severe that he had to drop out of college and he hasn t worked in 2-1/2 years. He just can t. It is currently getting to where he can t even leave the house. He has been to at least 20 different doctors and we have gotten nowhere. My wife and I are exhausted and my son is losing the will to live. He was once a very active and very normal young man. Now he suffers and is consumed by this affliction. There was talk about Maniere s disease, vestibular neuritis, and vestibular migraine. No definitive conclusions. About 3 months ago he was diagnosed with Lyme disease. It was the western blot blood test that determined this. I guess this test is supposed to be more definitive . So he has undergone antibiotic treatment (ozone therapy). It seems as if he was getting the herxheimer reaction. He has been up and down throughout the last few years but lately he seems to have taken a turn for the worse. He is very knowledgeable about medical information and he strongly feels as if he has a spinal fluid leak. Another twist! He has had back surgery years ago and other procedures that could have caused a spinal fluid leak. Researching this issue leads me to conclude that it is somewhat rare and often overlooked and usually dismissed. My wife and I are trying to network to get answers to help get my sons life back on track. My question is; do you have any thoughts regarding these issues? Also, would you be able to provide any information about doctors that specialize in the treatment of Lyme disease or those who would specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of a spinal fluid leak? Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Scot McCartney

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I have read your querry. Here is my suggestion.
For lyme disease you need to take antibiotics like doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for four weeks or you should consult a doctor who is specialized in infectious diseases. For apinal leakage you need to consuld a neurologist.
Hope i have answered your query. Feel dree to ask if i can assist further.
Thanks.
