How Can I Treat Fever And Cough In A Child ?
My 8yr old son started ad a fever with a productive cough for 2 days. I was giving ibuprofen only & thought it was a viral infection which will go away. The fever never went away & I observed white pus signs on his tonsils. I started an antibiotic treatment and today is the final day for this treatment (5 days). The fever is still on & off and I have maintained ibuprofen 1x200mg every 6 hrs. I gave intermine syrup (10ml) to help him sleep. Yestrday he developed a rash all over the body, even inside the mouth. Kindly advise what could be going on + the cough simply wont go away. Thanks.

its better to shift to any paracetamol 250 mg 6th hrly instead brufen.can you please mention the antibiotic you are using?
you have to do some blood tests like tlc,dc,mp for pf and pv, widal also.better to rule out other causes also.
if need he may need bit higher antibiotic. and this should be taken under the guidance of pediatrician. for cough you can use cough syrup prescribed by your doctor.rashes will come down once infection subsides.also he can use a multivitamin syrup

You have not mentioned which antibiotic you gave. Every antibiotic will not work for eery infection. The rash may be due to drug or to infection. Please get him examined by a pediatrician. After clinical examination he will tell you whether any investigations are required.
