How Can I Get Rid Of Cough Caused By Lisinopril?

Hi have you ever encountered someone getting a deep cough from taking lisinopril? It isalmost asthma like, but sometimes wet too. Been to a walkin clinic, lungs are clear. nose congested just from allergies, taking zyrtec. have hive allergy to vasotec, was on lisinopril years ago, got similar symptoms after about 6 months. it went away when i stoppe it. my current dr does not believe that

Persistent cough is a common side effect of ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril. You should see it listed in the information supplied by the pharmacy filling the prescription. The cough goes away after you stop the lisinopril, as you experienced before. If your condition requires an ACE inhibitor type of drug, you can try a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). Ask your doctor to prescribe an ARB in place of the lisinopril. These act similarly to lisinopril but don't have cough as a frequent side effect like ACE inhibitors do. Hope this helps.
