How Can I Find Out My Stage Of Typhoid ?
hi Im 29 yrs having Typhoid fever my doc told me yesterday. My blood test showed the pathology 1:80& 1:60 can i know at what stage of typhoid im having?

Dear enquirer What test result you have mensioned is Widal test result. This is no longer preferred to diagnose Typhoid fever. This test only shows that your body has got antibody against salmonella typhi the germ responsible for typhoid fever. If you had typhoid in the past, if you vaccinated for typhoid Widal test will be positive. However if your widal test is repeated after 3 weeks and if it shows increase in titre it may indicate you may have got typhoid. The best test to diagnose is your blood culturefot salmonella typhi bacteria and it is the gold standard to diagnose typhoid. I am sorry I am notbe able to tell in which stage of tyhoid you are.I think you should discuss about blood culture with your Doctor. Kindest regard

First of all I would like to know the duration of fever because the test for diagnosis typhoid is depends on the duration.In first week blood culture should be done and in second week Widal test(you have done)may be done.Though widal test is nonspecific test but it can be helpful to detect typhoid when it is done after 2nd week of fever and repeated again wit increasing titre(i.e-1:80 to 1:160).I also want to inform you that typhoid has no such stage its a water born bacterial disease and treatment is easier when diagnosed properly.
