How Can High BP And GERD Be Treated?

Yes I am a 26 year old female. I sometimes have high blood pressure. On average it ranges from 111/65-118/78. But if I exsert myself or get nervous it climbs above 130/80. I went to the ER this weekend having chest pains. The doctor said it was GERD but the nurse did and EKG to be sure it wasent my heart. The doctor came in the room and said the results were abnormal. He never really explained what was abnormal, he said a line was longer than it was suppose to be and that was probably from my high blood pressure damaging my heart. Obvisously that scared me and he said not to worry about it and put me on blood pressure medicine and said if I take it everything would be fine.....What should I think of this. Should I get another EKG done? I wasent referred to a cardiologist or anything.

Hello
Welcome to HCM
If I were treating doctor, I would not have put on hypertensive medications.
your blood pressure readings of 111/65-118/78 and even 130/80 is not considered high blood pressure especially at your age.
To make a diagnosis ,a good doctor should take two readings at least with a gap of 15 days and 140/100 is considered hypertensive at your age.
Before starting anything medications....high blood pressure can be reduced with dietary modifications like reducing salt in your food and by doing exercise daily and eating balanced diet especially fruits and vegetables.
For GERD,in my opinion you should take tab. ranicure (ranitidine) before eating your breakfast once daily for 7 days.
no need to do EKG again
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us and do a follow up.

*Always check for history of allergy before taking any medicine.
Wishing you good health.
