How Can HPV Infection Be Diagnosed?

I visited a health clinic yesterday with questions about little bumps on my penis, since those are not always genital warts. The physician wasn't sure, but applied some liquid nitrogen on the marks. I have had normal fordyce spots for years, and would like to know what else I can do to see if I do in fact have genital warts (HPV.)

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The doctor suspect warts in man by seeing it. It is often difficult to detect genital warts, your doctor may apply a mild acetic acid solution to your genitals to whiten any warts. Then, he or she may view them through a special magnifying instrument. There is not a specific HPV test done for man. Also your partner needs to be tested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
