How Beneficial Is Treatment For Brittle Bones In An Elderly Person?

My mother is 84 years old (with mild dementia) in nursing home and is pretty much wheelchair only, very little walking. I am wondering if the medications or transfusions they are telling me to do will help her at all at this stage of her life? Can they improve her brittle bones that fast, or is it not beneficial at all?
