How An Allergic Itching Caused By Poison Ivy Be Treated?
Yesterday I was trimming and cutting a lot of poison ivy from my lilac bush. A small branch approx. a quarter size hit me in the upper chest. I came in right away and showered and washed the area well with soap and water. Today it is red, sore, and has an area that looks like sort of a blister. I put topical extra strength anti - itch gel on it and now I just put Ivarest poison ivy itch cream. I never have a allergic reaction to poison ivy before.
From your explanation it looks like you have developed poison ivy rash.. Redness, soreness and itching is an outcome of allergic reaction only.. First of all start taking anti histamines like Benadryl or Levocetrizine to reduce redness and itching.. Do cool compresses over the rashes.. Apply a steroid ointment like Triamcinolone Acetonide and at times you can also be advised oral steroid pills for quick relief.. If there is pain anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can relieve.. Avoid scratching it to avoid infection. If there is still no improvement consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
Hope this helps.
Regards.
