Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your sister's symptoms.

The most likely diagnostic possibilities are syncope or transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Sometimes, small brain strokes (lacunar infarcts) are not seen on CT, but can get picked up on an MRI brain. Having said that, hospitalisation is not needed to do an MRI, as it takes about 30 minutes to do it and is a non-invasive procedure.

In syncope, due to low blood pressure, the blood flow to brain reduces for a while, leading to loss of consciousness.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
