Should I Be Concerned About Frequent Numbness In Both Of My Feet And Mainly My Toes When I Am Borderline Diabetic?

History....Three years ago, I was sent by my doctor to ER as he thought I had a PE. Once in ER, they determined I did not have a PE, but rather bi-later pneumonia (one time event) and then going into respiratory failure with days of being in hospital. They did say I am borderline Diabetic though. Now.... I have not been ill even a day in three years. I am experiencing frequent numbness in both of my feet, mainly my toes. Should I be concerned? Thanks
