History Of Smoking. Shoulder Pain, Chest Pain, Arm Pain. What Is It?

I am a 48 year old former smoker (20+ yrs). Quit 10 years ago. I woke one morning 5 weeks ago with severe pain in right shoulder blade, radiates thru to my chest (pressure is unbearable when I bend over). Three days later my arm started to get very painful, especially from armpit to elbow. Then went numb, tingling down thru my pinky and ring finger. Had a nerve test (negative), had an mri of spine, neck and brain, all normal. Told my doctor I suspect pancoast tumor since I have all symptoms (except drooping). He had an xray done, says there is no evidence of tumor. I have heard they are quite tricky and hard to see. Anyone think it could be something else? I am at wit's end here. Still in pain, arm still numb and chest hurts desperately. Thanks!

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in the shoulder and arm are likely to be related to rotator cuff tendonitis caused by inflammation. Any cardiac cause also needs to be ruled out after a proper examination.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
