History Of Mono And Epididymitis. Have Oral Thrush, Balanitis. Negative HIV Test. Help

I had a bad case of mono about a year and a half ago. I got oral thrush after that and now have been dealing with balanitis for at least a year. I've been tested for HIV twice, both times negative. I had acute epididymidus as well prior too the mono. I've gone through a multitude of other std tests as well to no avail. I'm starting to go crazy with stress. Please help

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Presence of infections- oral thrush, balanitis, and epididymitis suggests an underlying immunosuppresant state.
Treatment of all these infections requires different anti-microbial treatment.
Is there any discharge from the external genitalia?
If yes, you can get the discharge examined. This will determine the type of micro-organism causing this infection.
Since the HIV test is coming out to be negative, you need to be investigated for other diseases.
This state could be due to abnormality of cells which are responsible for maintaining immunity.
These cells are lymphocytes- T and B, NK cells, macrophages, to name a few.
Consult your doctor for investigation of diseaseas related to abnormalities.

Thanks and take care

General & Family Physician Dr. S. Jegadeesan's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your inquiry
One and half year back you had infectious mononucleosis (mono). You developed oral thrush after that. Prior to mono you had you epididymides. You have done tests for STD several times, which shows negative only.
Now for the one year you are taking treatment for Balanitis without improvement.
All of your complaints may be due to sex associated. Your current problem is balanitis. The culprit may be bacteria, virus, sexually transmitted diseases, or fungus.
The culprit can be identified by swabs and cultures, and pathological examination (biopsy).
Treatment:
Do the above tests detect the cause and treat accordingly.
Avoid sex till you get 100% alright, after that you will be in a position to realize that "Prevention is better than cure".
With best wishes
