History Of Breast Cancer. Have Depression, Weight Loss, Low Appetite. Help

I am checking side effects of certain prescriptions that my friend is taking. She survived breast cancer 6 months ago . I was checking if some if her medication could be causing hr problem. Seems to me she is suffering from depression, as I had also been there many years ago, some of her symptoms seem quite familiar to me, also her legs bounce when she is sitting , only stops when sleeping. Stays in bed and sleeps all day, has lost weight, appetite is not good not interested in conversation, no facial expression, just seems uninterested in anything. She looks dozey.Sitting up her eyes close, she says sheis not sleeping then appologises. Says she has thing she wants to do but cannot and it agitates her because she cannot.
She has doctors checking everything but so far nothing....

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the symptoms are related to depression but her doctors need to rule out other possible causes first.
Disturbance in some electrolyte levels and low thyroid hormone levels can sometimes cause an altered mood.

In addition , it is possible that her condition and any medical treatment that she is receiving is involved in causing some of her symptoms.

Depression can present with depressed mood, loss of interest in activities, fatigue, change in sleep habits, change in appetite, feeling of hopelessness , problems concentrating or making decisions.

If other causes are ruled out then her doctors will likely consider assessing her for depression and initiate treatment.

I hope this helps
