Hip Pain After Running. Any Suggestions On Ways To Help This Heal?

I have hip pain after I run. It feels like a bruise right at the top of my outer leg/hip where the joint is. It does not hurt during running. I ve taken several weeks off but once I return to running the pain returns as well. Any suggestions on ways to help this heal? and suggestions on ways to prevent it in the future? (exercises to reduce muscle imbalances?) Thank you.

hi
pain in the lower limb which starts from your groin and radiates along the inner aspect of your thigh upto the knee is due causes in the hip joint whereas pain which starts from your buttock and radiates posteriorly along the lower limb is due causes in your lower back. If the pain is due to hip joint it self you might hurt you while squatting and cross leg sitting either
i advice you to visit your orthopedic surgeon get examined your self and get and x ray done if required.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Vishwanath. R. Hulsogi's  Response
Hello, if it is due to muscle strain of the hip and gluteal muscles it should have subsided with rest and some analgesics. Another possibility is early arthritis of the hip, a plain x-ray should diagnose that. You can start muscle strengthening exercises of the hip like hip flexion, abduction exercises, against resistance would further strengthen them. Take care.
