High Fever, Red Dots On Body, Spreading. Chance Of Impetigo?
my grandaughter was taken to the ER on thursday with a high fever of 104.7 and was given ibuprophen and tylenol for the fever, she also had red dots running down from her neck over the abdomen, these have spread and they took her back up to the ER and she has no strep infection but the doctor is saying instead of a viral infection it may be impetigo. Is this possible?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Impetigo usually presents with skin vesicles and there will be fluid inside impetigo, there will be no fever usually. The high grade fever with red rash looks like a viral illness. I advise you to continue medication as per the advise and consult the pediatrician for follow up. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
how old is your grand daughter.since how many days fever is present and rashes appeared after how many days of fever.Impetigo will not look like red spots.in impetigo it will be fluid or pus filled rashes on body and will spread in adjoining area.description given by you ponits towards some viral infection.have an expert consultation as the visualisation of rashes is more important for a diagnosis.till thn continue with paracetamol and an antihistaminic syp ( dose according to weight ).stop ibuprophen its not a good medicine.
