High BP Treated. Frequent Heart Skipping With Weakness, Diagnosed AV Heart Block. On Cartia, Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray

WAS BEING TREATED FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND STARTED HAVING LOTS OF PROBLEMS
Had been experiencing frequent heart skipping followed by weakness.
BP meds were increased several times.
Am 68 year old female in otherwise good health.
Changed doctors who ordered halter.
Was diagnosed with 2nd degree av heart block.

Directions given to me upon diagnosis:
·Stop taking (atenolol 100 mg) & (amlodipine 10 mg)
Now on ....
*Cartia 120 mg. (and having more occasional episodes like before.)
*Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray & cetirizine hydrochlorideand (24 hr. antihistimine) for seasonal allergy.
I STOPPED THE CARTIA FOR FIVE DAYS AND FELT MUCH BETTER WITH NO EPISODES.
I am thinking of DISCONTINUING THE CARTIA until I can find cardiologist.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
I have gone through all the available details, you have High blood pressure and recently detected to have Second degree heart block.

Your doctor rightly decided to withdraw from Beta blocker which should be a gradual by tapering the dose.

In case of heart block even Diltiazem should be used with utmost caution.
You should not stop all medicines of blood pressure otherwise blood pressure may shoot up.

Please consult your Physician to continue some medication from some other group to control blood pressure.

You are taking anti histamine drugs for allergy they can also cause rhythm disturbance.

Take opinion of Cardiologist as soon as possible and if heart block is reversed is all right other wise a pace maker implantation will be required.

Hope this information helps you.

Wish you good Health
Take care
