Hi my friend's son is suffering from psychosis and was

Hi my friend's son is suffering from psychosis and was admitted into the psychiatric ward at our local hospital. Ive known him since he was 8 years old and he was always taking medications to control his anger, anxiety and ADHD. After he graduated high school, he started experiencing elevated anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, delusional thoughts, and lately hearing voices. What can his parents expect for his future? He was always a high achieving successful student and talented in many areas of his interests, always at the top in performance in whatever he chose to do, both in academics and sports. He was awarded many scholarships into numerous ivy league colleges. He attended college but was unable to function and return home, semester incomplete. He is currently followed by his psychiatrist and on anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety medications. His psychotic episodes and yelling outbursts has caused their landlords to evict them. He has physically harmed both parents with an object such as metal rods and free weights. He lives with his mom. His parents are divorced. What is the prognosis for kids in his condition and what are the chances of recovery to a point of normal gainful employment / lifestyle? Or are these expectations unrealistic for the parents of a son with his psychiatric condition? I have reached out to local organizations and looked up the websites for information, but want more detailed info as to what parents should expect and how can we help support their son to recovery? Will he ever be the same as before again? It's been 3 weeks since discharge and doc has increased dosage on meds but he still hears negative voices, according to him. He's a very good boy and he is fighting with himself and his demons.
