Hi, my fiance has a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled for tomorrow at 7am. She was diagnosed with colitis and they're trying to determine the cause. Shes lost almost 50 lbs in 2 months because she cant keep anything in. We're in the middle of doing the prep. She took a dulcolax and then drank the magnesium citrate and then on her first glass of miralax/Gatorade she started having serious pain and wanting to vomit. She's now thrown up twice, both times a lime green liquid, and both times rather large amounts. I spoke to an on call doctor over the phone, who suggested we simply take it more slowly to see how her body reacts. But I'm concerned that we're exacerbating whatever her illness is by filling her body with these laxatives. I'm at a loss as to how best to proceed

Hi, is there another way to detect IBD other than a colonoscopy and endoscopy? I have had both and was instead diagnosed with IBS but my symptoms are so severe (rectal bleeding (bright red), flare ups - can go months with nothing and then comes back out of no where, terrible back pain, the flare ups are so bad that I sometimes vomit from the stomach pains). I am worried and want to make sure I have done all tests possible to ensure it is just IBS, everytime i speak to a doctor they tell me its anxiety related.

Hi Dr Charles, 2 and a half weeks ago my 17 yr old son vomited a large amount of blood and an endoscopy revealed 3 bleeding lesions in the duodenum which the doctor stapled. His stools have presented themselves with a little blood in them the last 2 days. He is scheduled for a colonoscopy and another endoscopy in 4 weeks time. The specialist can offer me no explanation whatsoever as why my son has this condition. It is very unusual for a young adult to have this. can u help

Hi...I m a healthy 42 year old female and recently found large amounts of blood in my stool. I am severly anemic and have been feeling awful for the past 6 months. ie, fatigue, troubles focusing, dizzy, lightheaded, hair is falling out. Friday I had a colonoscopy that proved negative, so the gastro dr scheduled and endoscopy today. He said my stomach is riddled with ulcers . Since I was recovering, I didn t have a chance to talk to the dr after the test, but wondering if the ulcers are the reason I m so anemic and if you think this is the reason for blood in my stool.
